We blinked….and somehow it’s the end of October. Crazy how that happens! It’s been a minute, so I’m popping into your inbox to update you on what I’ve been working on.
But first, Maats?? What’s this new word? As a South African, I never let an opportunity to bring something from my motherland into my work go to waste. Maats in South Africa means friends, and so, you’re my maat, and Maatskappy is all about maats.

While you’re all figuring out what to be for Halloween, the elves are already busy, busy, busy. I couldn’t believe my luck when my friends Danielle of Monsoon Pottery and Caleb from Yonder Coffee agreed to work together on a one-of-a-kind gift set. Our friends are opening a store 👏
Enid will be a dreamy space for independent designers and artists, opening on November 1st. You’ll find custom Enid colorway Maatskappy wall lights lighting up the store! Follow along on their Instagram.
Portable lamps are on their way!
Years in the making, these portable lamps are turning out to be an absolute delight. Electronics are a whole new world and take a lot longer to perfect. I’m working with a talented Chicago-based engineer, and we’re in the final testing phases of the prototype electronics and firmware. The first units are on track for an early ‘25 launch.
